After the hoods have been cleaned, they are polished to improve their appearance and to make them easier to clean in the future. A sticker is applied showing that the system has been cleaned in accordance with state or local laws.

When to Clean Your Exhaust System

How often you should have your exhaust system cleaned will depend on the type and volume of cooking you do. Systems that use solid fuel need to be cleaned on a monthly basis. Restaurants that operate 24 hours a day and cook large volumes of food need to be cleaned every three months. Restaurants that prepare moderate amounts of food need to have their exhaust systems cleaned every six months. Organizations that prepare small amounts of food or only operate for part of the year need to have their systems cleaned once a year.
